The Darts Performance Centre Coaching Night

Posted: 25.10.16 in Coaching Night and Members Tournament category

We have a great event for you on November 4th! The DPC Coaching Pentathlon Tournament.

Our coaching night has been the Pre Event for The New Forest Masters since we started the competition in 2013. This will be our 4th.  The Coaching Night has grown each year and we have had regular visits from players from all over the UK, Ireland and of course Del Jenkins all the way from Canada! Del is returning again this year ( he has attended 2 out of the 3 so far) and we are all looking forward to seeing him.

The format has been a session from a sports psychologist, last year we also took a video of everyone throwing and gave players some feedback on that, we have some food and then the Coaching Night tournament. We then decamp to the pub to throw some more darts or to have a dance, whatever you’re into. Hopefully you have got the right impression of what to expect, it’s a lot of fun basically!

This year we are doing something different! We have joined up the coaching and the tournament to make the first ever DPC Coaching Pentathlon Tournament! I am sure you are all familiar with the Pentathlon format-it is a break away from the traditional 501 format as it tests players in lots of different ways on the board. For example as well as 501 and 1001 players also play: Round The World on Doubles, Shanghai and Halve it.

We have come up with our own version! We will play a tournament in the style of a Pentathlon event using some of the traditional games and some of our own practice games.

The idea is to utilise all the knowledge passed on by Matt in his sessions over the past few years as well as utilising all the skills needed to be successful at darts:

  • ·         To Focus when you could be distracted
  • ·         To Concentrate at all times
  • ·         To Perform Under Pressure
  • ·         To retain a good Temperament no matter what happens
  • ·         To play Skilfully and Cleverly no matter what the circumstances

Our aim is to push you to the darting limits-we will have 4 groups playing all the Pentathlon games and then the winners of each group will play off for a place in the final and the coveted trophy and title of DPC Champion!

It is free for DPC members – You can join here or £10 for guests. This includes food (yes there will be sausage rolls) and a cash bar will be operating on the night. Please sign up here. Can all members please register as there is a maximum of 32 places available.

We want to keep the numbers small to ensure the fluid running of the event as this is the first time we have tried an event like this. See you on the 4th November!

The event is held in New Milton Hampshire in the UK at the New Milton Memorial Centre. A lot of players stay over and take part in the New Forest Masters on the following day as well as the now legendary "after party"!
