PDC William Hill World Championship Day 8
Posted: 20.12.19 in Tournament Analysis Blog category
Here are the results from yesterday and what is in store at the palace today!
I didn't get to see any of the afternoon session save the last game where the old war horse, Steve Beaton beat Kyle Anderson 3:1. The Bronzed Adonis has started tournaments really well before and then, unlike his tan, fades swiftly after. It would be great to see him put a run together this year.
It was the same pattern in the evening with some Xmas commitments only allowing me the Price/O'Connor game. Willie will be kicking himself today after getting in a muddle with his scores and it was the luck of the Welsh that saw Price prevail.
Thursday December 19 - Results
Afternoon Session - 2x First Round, 2x Second Round
Justin Pipe 3-2 Benjamin Pratnemer (First Round)
Jan Dekker 3-2 Ryan Joyce (First Round)
John Henderson 3-0 James Richardson (Second Round)
Steve Beaton 3-1 Kyle Anderson (Second Round)
Evening Session - 4x Second Round
Chris Dobey 3-2 Ron Meulenkamp (Second Round)
Danny Noppert 3-2 Callan Rydz (Second Round)
Dave Chisnall 3-1 Vincent van der Voort (Second Round)
Gerwyn Price 3-2 William O’Connor (Second Round)
It is an interesting card today. Jan Dekker could produce a small upset and the contrasting styles of Evans and McGeeney will be fascinating. Ricky is super quick and The Gladiator is by no means slow but he is old school. He will not fall in to the trap of hurrying his own game and Ricky will have to contend with that.
Friday December 20
Afternoon Session - 4x Second Round
Darren Webster (1/4) v Yuki Yamada (100/30) (Second Round)
Mervyn King (5/12) v Ciaran Teehan (9/4) (Second Round)
Jonny Clayton (2/5) v Jan Dekker (21/10) (Second Round)
Ricky Evans (4/5) v Mark McGeeney (11/10) (Second Round)
In the eveving could we see a German double? Joe Cullen is not the most reliable of players and can be hot but more often than not, he's not! Nico F*****g Kurz could take advantage and Hopp at 6/4 to beat Benito looks ok value.
Evening Session - 4x Second Round Congratulations to Fallon Sherrock, the first woman in history to win a match in the World Darts Championship.
Nathan Aspinall (2/11) v Danny Baggish (9/2) (Second Round)
Joe Cullen (5/9) v Nico Kurz (8/5) (Second Round)
Max Hopp (4/6) v Benito van de Pas (7/5) (Second Round)
Peter Wright (2/13) v Noel Malicdem (6/1) (Second Round)
More About Fallon
Did you see Billie Jean King sent a congratulory tweet to Fallon?
Fallon earned more for this first-round win than she would have earned from winning the women’s championship. https://t.co/onF7U7ZpMO
For our younger readers Billie was a female tennis player back in the day and took up a bet that she couldn't beat a self confessed male chauvinist, Billy Riggs in a tennis match. She took up the challenge and hammered the hapless Riggs 3:0. There is a very good movie about it too.
