Greece wasn

PDC World Championship Day 5

Greece wasn't the word last night...

Sunday wasn’t a day of rest if you’re a darts fan. There was another double header and some interesting games. Dobey did well beating Pipe. Mark Webster’s finishing was unbelievable and Ian White won easily against a below average qualifier.

In the evening games our former sponsored player John Bowles couldn’t produce his form from a few years ago and went out to David Platt. The thriller of the night was the John Michael v Alan Norris game. John Michael from Greece has apparently been on a keep fit campaign prior to the event so he could give his walk in music, “Zorba The Greek” the full treatment during his walk on.

Now I think it is fair to say the keep fit campaign didn’t go too well but John did a fine job of dancing to his favoured tune. More seriously though it was within the time span we have been involved in darts (5 years) that ex pro’s were still claiming you didn’t need to be physically fit to play top level darts.

Anyone watching John Michael under the lights, sweating profusely and looking disorientated at times will know this is not the case. It still early ended in tragedy for Norris but he came from behind to go through. You don’t need to be Gerwyn Price-esque but you do need stamina to get through a long game on the stage.

Tonight we have:

Monday December 19 (7pm)
Qiang Sun (9/1)v Corey Cadby (1/12)  (P)
Mervyn King (5/6) v Steve West (11/10)
Adrian Lewis (1/12) v Magnus Caris (10/1)
Joe Cullen (3/4) v Sun/Cadby (15/13)

Has a qualifier ever been 9/1 to win their game against another qualifier?  I'm not sure if that comes under the 3 Dart Analyst’s remit but he may know! I am pretty sure there hasn’t been. But then there has never been an Australian super-kid by the name of Corey Cadby before! I am really looking forward to this and if Cadby can hold it together I fancy him to KO the Rock Star in the last game of the night.

Merv v Steve West will be a close one and Jackpot should beat Caris easily.

Tips: King and Cadby (v Cullen) Double
