Grand Slam Day 4

We take a look at the final night of the Round Robin stage.

Day 4

It was a good night on the whole for the BDO boys last night. Stars of the night were Glen Durrant, who won easily and Darryl Fitton, who didn’t but took the last leg of the game v Ian White to go through. Scott Mitchell was edged out by an excellent Chris Dobey and last years hero, Wolfie was beaten by Brendan Dolan. Finally a mention for Darren Webster, who demolished The Power 5:0.

Tonight there are four more BDO players looking for a place in the knock out stage.

Dimitri van den Bergh (5/4) v Scott Waites (4/5) 20.00

Robert Thornton (10/11) v Gerwyn Price (1/1) 21.00

Table: Thornton 4 +3 Price 2 +2 Van den Bergh 2 0 Waites 0 -5

Both qualifying spots are still up for grabs in this group. Thornton has 4 points in the bank but if Price beats him and Van den Bergh wins well he could pip him to the last place. Mathematically Waites can still qualify but it is unlikely!

Peter Wright (1/6) v Ted Evetts (17/4) 19.40

Simon Whitlock (2/5) v Jeff Smith (2/1) 22.30

Table: Wright 4 +9 Whitlock 2 -1 Smith 2 -3 Evetts 0 -5

Peter Wright is through and it is a straight shoot-out between Whitlock and Jeff Smith.

Nathan Aspinall (6/4) v Danny Noppert  8/13 20.30

Mensur Suljovic (1/1)  v Raymond van Barneveld (9/10) 22.00

Table: Barneveld 4 +7 Suljovic 2 0 Noppert 2 -1 Aspinall 0 -6

Young Danny Noppert needs the “Daddy” of Dutch darts, Barney to do him a favour and beat Suljovic. This will make life a little easier for Noppert, he will just need a win to qualify and will not have to worry about leg difference. But with Noppert playing first Mensur will know exactly what he has to do.

James Wade (10/11) v Dave Chisnall (11/10) 19.15

James Wilson (4/5) v Jamie Hughes (11/10) 21.30

Top v bottom with Wade meeting Chizzy first. The Machine has already qualified leaving a shoot out between “home boy” Jamie Hughes v James Wilson for the 2nd spot.

Table: 4 +4 Hughes 2 +2 Wilson 2 +1 Chisnall 0 -7

BDO Update

Two already through and a chance that all four left could get through. It will be tough for Scott Waites but Noppie has a genuine chance and if Hughes and Smith can bring their best game then why not a hat trick tonight. I am going for 2 out of the 4 to go through-Noppie for sure and maybe Hughes.

Tips

Wade to beat Chizzy (10/11) and Van den Bergh to beat Waites (5/4)
