2015 Coaching Night and Members Tournament

This is what we did at this year's Coaching Night

I always look forward to our coaching night and of course the New Forest Masters. It is at the same time each year so it is a good time to look back at what we have achieved and how far we have come.

We were laughing at the first year we did this over the weekend. Chris and I nearly had a nervous breakdown and Aidan nearly keeled over with hypothermia whilst “guarding” our stands as we made trip after trip in our cars with all the kit. From then on we hired a van!

This year we had our best ever attendance for the coaching. Members travelled from Ireland (Aidan-Throw Like A Pro) London and we had a handful of local players too. A big thanks to everyone that got involved, your support is really appreciated. A mention for Del Jenkins who has attended the past two years, travelling from Canada. He couldn't make it this time but is hoping to be here for next time.

It is a brilliant night and we were pleased more came along to take on some good advice. Matt Johnson was back again and did a talk on Fear. He chatted about all the gremlins in a dart player's head that stops them performing at their best. More importantly he came up with some brilliant but simple ideas to tackle these issues.

The players then went on to the boards and Matt and his assistant Rich went around to discuss what issues the players had and which strategy was the best one for them to deal with it.

I took the opportunity to video everyone that came along and gave some feedback on the video to all the players as the evening progressed. I will be posting the videos on YouTube and giving feedback to everyone as the week progresses.

We had some tasty food and then it was time for the Members' Tournament. We played a round robin format, two semi finals and a final. The Champion was Diogo Portela who beat Jason Cox in the final.

It was a brilliant evening and we went to the bar over the road for a de-brief; a memorable night!
