One World Championship draws to a close as the other starts!

When Two Worlds Collide

One World Championship draws to a close as the other starts!

The PDC World Championships are edging to a conclusion – we have six players left, two of whom will be heading home tonight to leave us with four semi-finalists who will battle it out on Saturday.

Also Saturday sees the start of Lakeside 2015. We have already published a preview of who we think may win it, it is very tough to call mind. The blog is here.

It has been a stunning few days at the Ally Pally-Lewis hitting a 9 darter and then going on to lose to Barney! Taylor meddling with his darts but still playing brilliantly to beat Huybrechts. Last night MGV was sensational and so was The Thorn.

This leaves us with the following games:

Friday January 2
Phil Taylor 1/16 v Vincent van der Voort 11/1
Stephen Bunting 4/7 v Raymond van Barneveld 6/4

Saturday January 3
Michael van Gerwen 8/15 v Gary Anderson 7/4
Taylor/van der Voort v Bunting/van Barneveld

Odds of 1/16 are of course something you will never see at Lakeside. The games, which may not hit the heights of 9 darters and the like (although don’t rule this out) are much more closely fought than a lot of the “walkovers” we have witnessed this year and for many years previously at the Ally Pally.

As we have already alluded to, this year at Frimley Green is going to be the toughest to call for a long time. Despite the defection of Bunty after winning the BDO crown there is a high quality field assembling in Surrey!
