Off we go again!

PDC World Championship Night 7

Off we go again!

Off we go again then! It was a fantastic first 6 days of the tournament, great darts and controversy, what more could you ask for? The tournament stopped for its Xmas break following a night of just great darts, well almost!

Hendo and Van de Voort got the night rocking with a five set thriller which was followed up by the match of the tournament so far, Max Hopp v Mervyn King. Merv had slipped a disc earlier in the week and frequently looked in pain (except when he won a leg). Max, the 18 year old German, who has recently shed 4 stone looked every ounce the dart player he has promised to be in the few TV appearances we have had the pleasure to watch him play in over the past two years.

It takes two to tango though and King proved what a fantastic Pro he is by pulling off shots and finishes that were made even more remarkable by the fact he was clearly in agony. The only blot on this brilliant game were the moronic “England Fans” singing their anti-German ditties.

This was, at last, too much for Sky Sports and they did what a lot of darts fans have been dreaming of doing all week and the producer pressed the mute button and silenced the crowd! The damage was done of course but maybe this could be the start of Sky taking seriously the damage the “darts fans” in the Ally Pally are capable of doing to the sport.

Jackpot then hit the ground running posting a 100+ average to continue the high quality fayre that took us into Xmas.
