We have published a practice plan which will help you play better darts!

We've had some great feedback about our Practice Plan book.
This is from Neil P!

A quick update after getting coaching manual for anyone thinking of getting it..buy it. My stats before I got it were played 8, won 1, since using the plan I have played 7 and won 6 and my biggest improvement is regularly getting 100!

Most of my doubles are now done in 3 darts or less so my advice is buy it and watch your game improve!

The Darts Performance Centre was formed in October 2010 and had one clear goal from day 1; to help dart players play better darts. We laid out a foundation and put together a plan on our website for players of all standards and aspirations to follow. The areas we cover are: goal setting, psychology, throwing technique, nutrition, coaching advice and of course practice!

Darts is a sport where you are solely responsible for your performance; preparing yourself and training are essential to success. Proper practice is the key to not just getting yourself prepared but also to help you overcome whatever hurdles you may face during a match right down to hitting the winning double.

We also knew dart players' practice could be haphazard. Not having a structured practice session was the biggest part of this and this meant players were not practising the parts of the game they needed to work on. Players also didn’t have any clear idea as to whether they were improving or not as they kept no record of how their scoring and finishing was going.

We think we have addressed some of these issues with our practice plan. All of the straightforward practice games are laid out in session and week order saving you the time hunting around for different games to play. There is an area to keep your statistics so you have a weekly record of how many darts it takes you to score and finish. Having this sort of feedback on your darts is essential, why? Because as you witness your scores improving this motivates you to practise more!

This practice plan was put together by Aidan Farrelly and Paul Gillings. Aidan teamed up with the Darts Performance Centre to help him focus on areas that he felt needing improving in his quest to become a Pro dart player.

Aidan has been a fan of darts since a young age, although he didn't pick up his first set of arrows until he was 23. In that time, Aidan has been dedicated to finding out what it takes to become a professional. Aidan documents his ups and downs in improving his game, and explores some of the unknown, yet crucial elements of darts such as nerves, confidence and much more in his blog on the Darts Performance Centre website, it’s called Throw Like A Pro!

Paul Gillings had the idea for the Darts Performance Centre during the University course he was taking in the Performance Analysis of Sport. It dawned on him that darts had no recognised coaching structure and players had no resources to fall back on to aid their game. It seemed all other sports had so why not darts? The rest is history!

We both hope you enjoy taking your practice sessions to a new level and that we help you get a little more from your performance on the oche.
