Quarter-Finals

This is the line up and odds  for the quarter finals.

Northern Ireland (2/1) v Scotland (2/5)
Singles 1 - Brendan Dolan 4 (15/8) v Peter Wright 2 (4/11)
Singles 2 - Michael Mansell 3 (9/4)  v Robert Thornton 4 (2/7)
Doubles  - Dolan/Mansell 4 v Wright/Thornton

Both teams had a pretty straight forward passage in to the 1/4 finals. Northern Ireland disposed of Japan and Scotland defeated Sweden and only dropped one leg in the process! I can't see Mansell beating The Thorn so it is up to Dolan to write some more history and take the match to a doubles shoot out. It's Scotland marching on for me though.

Netherlands (1/3) v Belgium (9/4)
Singles 1 - Michael van Gerwen 2 (2/9) v Kim Huybrechts 4 (11/4)
Singles 2 - Raymond van Barneveld 4 (3/10) v Ronny Huybrechts 2 (11/5)
Doubles - van Gerwen/van Barneveld 4 v Huybrechts/Huybrechts

Odds anyone on this game being dubbed good enough for the final?  On paper of course Holland are the strongest team but darts isn't played on paper and this should be a belter, not least because of the fierce rivalry between the two nations.

Let's hope it goes to a pairs game.

Wales (6/4) v Australia (4/7)
Singles 1 - Mark Webster 1 (6/4) v Simon Whitlock 4 (1/2)
Singles 2 - Richie Burnett 4 (5/6) v Paul Nicholson (5/6) 2
Doubles (if needed) - Webster/Burnett 0 v Whitlock/Nicholson

This is going to go to the wire isn't it? Webby had a nightmare yesterday in his singles game only to recover in the last leg shoot out in the pairs to hit a 180 and take out 112. It's a funny old game! Unless Webster can produce that sort of form during the whole game against The Wizard Australia will go in to the last singles game one up.

Nico has struggled at times for Australia and he has admitted Whitlock has helped him through. I was surprised to see Burnett at 11/10 with the sponsors B/Win with Nico 5/6 for their match. I don't see the game going that way and a nervy pairs match looks the most likely outcome to decide this tie.

England (1/8) v South Africa (6/1)
Singles 1 - Phil Taylor 4 (1/7) v Devon Petersen 3 (4/1)
Singles 2 - Adrian Lewis 4 (1/12) v Graham Filby 2 (11/2)

Preview:

Both England and South Africa needed a pairs match decider to secure their place in the 1/4 final. I am not convinced pairs will be needed here. England to go through.
