A Darts Coaching Event

Posted: 21.11.13 in Coaching Night and Members Tournament category

We have organised a darts coaching event for Friday 22 November. Here is all the essential information!

On Friday 22 November, the night before we host our tournament – The New Forest Masters, we have organised a coaching night. It is billed as our Members Night and Tournament. Our members pay a £25 subscription per annum to access our darts improvement website. Via that they can contact us for any advice as their training progresses.

Other benefits include a discount in our online shop, access to our exclusive darts training app and of course the coaching night for free! Membership is still open if you want to come along on Friday 22 November in New Milton, Hampshire.

And why wouldn’t you? We are sometimes “accused” of under selling ourselves, but things are about to change.  We believe we have put together a fantastic night that any dart player, serious about improving at darts would want to be at!

This event will set the bar for darts coaching events! There you go, I didn’t undersell us did I?

The Night

6.00pm   Start of the event, welcome and introduction

Workshop 1

We welcome Jamie Sims to the event. Jamie is currently studying for a PhD , he has been a University sports psychology lecturer and is a qualified coach. Jamie has written all the articles in our Sports Science section of the website. Jamie was involved in our coaching session with Team Kasbah and put on a fantastic session!

Jamie’s session, which will be interactive and involve throwing darts of course, covers these vital sports psychology areas:

Self-Talk – Do you ever lose focus or concentration in a game? This can prevent that.

Relaxation – Does your arm get tense or do butterflies in your stomach overwhelm you? Jamie will show you how to combat this.

The third area you will learn about on the night but Jamie rates it as the most importnat mental skill a dart player can have!

Workshop 2

Our second guest of the night is a Sports Science and coaching lecturer from Southampton Solent University. Matt Johnson has coached sportsmen up to and including Olympic level and has worked with the England Womens Rugby team as well as pro football clubs!

Now have you as dart players ever felt nervous and anxious before or during playing in a darts match? I do know the answer! It is a resounding yes! Matt’s session will explain how to prepare for a darts match and how to beat the anxiety that hits virtually every dart player we have met. It will also be interactive.
