Gary Anderson looked back to his best, but how long will it last?

.

What a difference a few weeks makes in darts! Last time we heard from Gary Anderson was when my pal Aidan interviewed him as part of the series of brilliant and insightful blogs he put together chatting to players at the Double In tournament in Dublin.

Anderson came into the press room in Dublin to chat to Aidan after beating Klassen on the back of a 104 average and admitted to trying over 40 sets of darts over the previous 12 months. I don’t know if he is still using the same set but he put in a similar effort last night. Anderson hit a close on 112 average and netted five out of six double attempts earning him a 83.33% checkout stat. It would be fascinating if we could find out what Anderson puts this down to and whether his darts have survived since Dublin.

There are one group of people totally unimpressed with Anderson’s performance. The bookmakers! Anderson has Taylor next and The Power is a best price 1/7 on! It was Taylor that halted Anderson's resurgance we referred to at the Dublin event, 3 sets to 0. The prices from the bookies tells us all we need to know about Taylor’s unrelenting supremacy of the PDC and about Anderson’s yoyo form.

Tonight’s games:

Scott Waites v Mark Webster
Tony O'Shea v Andy Hamilton
Robert Thornton v Mervyn King
Simon Whitlock v Ted Hankey

The format has changed and these games are first to ten.

Tips: Our double came in last night and let’s try and repeat the trick tonight.

I’m going for over  8.5 180’s in the Hamilton V O’Shea game. I reckon it will be tight so we will get our money’s worth on the amount of legs played and both players can hit the treble 20! The Thorn V The King also promises to be a tight affair. Over 16.5 legs is our call here. The double pays 13/5
