Lee took off for a walking holiday last week. Such is his enthusiasm he contemplated taking a portable board with him. He opted for planning his next month of practice instead.

Welcome to the Darts Performance Centre Darts Blog

Lee:This is my practice schedule for June: Sunday and Tuesday concentrate on doubles and finishing using the checkout matrix and the double delight game. Then a match day on the Monday followed by power scoring and accuracy. On Wednesday and Friday, Saturday and Thursday will be like a home study day lol learning my out shots.

This way I will not worry about will whether I make my training with my non darting (depressing life commitments or work as some people call it) it will also further my training by practicing my checkouts and doubles as well as maintaining my power throws and accuracy. A good spread

The practice schedule planner is available to all members of The Darts Performance Centre-Membership is £25 per annum

Darts Performance Centre: When Lee first submitted his practice regime he had squeezed a few extra sessions in. On reflection Lee realised that due to “life commitments” to keep his original regime would be difficult. This darts/life balance is the single biggest issue we come across with dart players.

We believe it is vital that you plan your practice sessions. Make a contract with your-self to fulfil the practice slots you have created but be realisitic. If then something un-expected happens that frees up more time and you can fit in some extra practice then that is a bonus.

We like Lee’s “home study” idea. Some people may argue that you should spend every minute you have on the board. Learning all the out-shot combinations and working on your concentration are all key elements in mastering darts. Taking a few minutes to fill out a practice diary and reflecting on what was good and what wasn’t during practice is time well spent. They are all done away from the oche.

Lee has put together a challenging schedule that focuses on core darts skills. We will keep you updated on how he gets on with it over the next few weeks.
