Here is our preview of the Ladies event at the 2019 BDO World Trophy

The Ladies event at the 2019 World Trophy starts on Saturday. As usual the field is a minefield with the high quality that the top of the Ladies BDO is well renowned for. Sorry to break the news but it is going to get tougher too.

There are two qualifying places up for grabs and although there is only a small field of entries for the qualifiers so far there are some quality players. Stand out player for us is of course a good friend of the DPC Vicky Pruim. It would be no surprise to see Vicky qualify and she can do some damage in the main event. For now, Lisa Ashton is 5/2 favourite to prevail and grab her hat trick of World Trophy wins. Perhaps a little surprisingly World Champion Mikuru Suzuki is out at 5/1 although this takes into account her hazardous first round game V last year’s champion Fallon Sherrock who is 7/1 to repeat the trick this year.

Also, in the mix is of course Deta Hedman 10/1, and if you fancy a rollercoaster ride then a player we have been long term admirers of is Laura Turner who is a huge 33/1. But if you want to risk a £1 on an outsider then wait for the qualifiers to be known and stick it on Vicky Pruim instead if she gets through.

Winner wise we are going for a bit of value and sticking with Suzuki, the World Champion, to motor through the field and claim the World Trophy title too. For an outsider go with Vicky Pruim if she gets out of the qualifiers.
