Darts On The Fringe!

We love the darts and we also love the arts! Now we have the perfect combo!

I love Brighton Fringe! I have been going each year for I think 5 years now. Comedy is usually top of the list but we have also seen some brilliant plays, looked around a flat, walked the back passages and toured the Brighton train station and Aquarium. I know that all sounds, maybe, a bit weird, but trust me, it was all excellent.

The only thing missing was some act that had a darts connection. Last year, having revealed my darts interest to the comedian who was on (I never learn) I was promised a stand out darts joke from one of the later acts! And LJ Da Funk, didn’t disappoint with his punchline of Raymond van Barneveld!

I discovered last year there was a play about Phil Taylor called “Best In The World”

I did consider contacting them to see if they could bring the show to Brighton with maybe a little help from the Darts Performance Centre.

So imagine my delight when on the bill this year is a show about darts! It stars Jody Kamali playing Mike Daly. I have found two descriptions of what it is about:

Meet "Mike Daly"

180! The wait is over. The bumbling Bristolian Darts Champion, Mike Daly, is back. The Beer swigging, Big Bellied, 80’s hair (Just for Men - Auburn), Fray Bentos Pie loving, former household name turned hermit wants to meet you, the fans. Expect plenty of 80's music and slow mo reconstructions of yesteryear. An off-beat physical/character comedy show from the cult internet star and Edinburgh/Brighton Fringe regular.

And

Jody Kamali is hapless Mike Daly. A former Bristolian Darts Champion, frustrated by his fall from grace is back to tell all. Set at a dysfunctional Q&A event in a crumbling hotel conference room, it sends him on a journey of self-discovery that has idiotic consequences.

An off-beat physical/character comedy show from the cult internet star and fringe regular.

"Kamali is hugely inventive, warm and engaging" (Total Theatre).
"Brilliant, original visual comedy" (Harry Hill)

So that sounds good doesn’t it? You can see the show on 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th of May at The Warren: The Nest Victoria Gardens, Grand Parade, Brighton BN1 1UB. Starting at 8.40pm. I am going on Friday!

There is a Facebook page here with more info and a Twitter page here!

I will publish my review next week! Game On!
