It is Day 1 of the 2019 Lakeside World Pro!

Mark McGeeney 4/9 3 V Derk Telnekes 1 36/17

Jim Widmayer 2  11/4 V Nigel Heydon 3  3/10

Lisa Ashton 1/4  v Mikuru Suzuki 2   7/2

Martin Phillips  2  1/1 v Conan Whitehead 3  66/67

It is a tough opening start for last year’s beaten finalist The Gladiator, Mark McGeeney. He takes on Derk Telnekes. Derk is not short in confidence and has had a good season on the tour including a final appearance in the England Open.

Canadian Jim Widmayer is back at Lakeside again and takes on Nigel Heydon.

In the Ladies event Lisa Ashton takes on Mikuru Suzuki. This has the potential to be the game of the afternoon. Mikuru is a soft tip star and slowly but surely she is mastering the steel tip game. Lisa though is a formidable opponent and showed what she can do in the first set of her grand slam game v Jan Dekker.

The final game of the afternoon is an intriguing one. The bookies can barely split Martin Philips and Conan Whitehead. Conan has endured a rollercoaster year and he is more than capable of winning.

Tips:

Conan Whitehead at 10/11 and Nigel Heydon -1.5 sets at 4/7

Saturday Evening

Paul Hogan  3 8/13 v Wes Newton 1 10/11

Mal Cumming 0 8/13 v Justin Thompson 3  7/5

Sharon Prins 2  8/11 v Roz Bulmer 1  5/4

Wesley Harms 3  11/21  v Tony O’Shea 2  24/13

Tips: Hogan and Harms Double
