.

Arriving in New Milton, Hampshire on Friday 22nd November I was excited. I was en route to a first, certainly from what I have heard. It wasn’t just any old get together, but gathering of a group of darts players, from as far away as Canada, all with a similar goal; to improve their game.

The best way to describe this evening is like a maths equation, simple addition;

A fascinating insight in to the world of Sports Psychology, and the ways in which simple additions to your mental approach and practice can prove instrumental in darts.

Almost immediately, we were thrown in to a situation where we were told just how a slight alteration of approach can pay dividends on the oche. I’m not spoofing. Sports Psychology is slowly edging its way in to our sport, having proven so effective in most others long before now.

It makes sense to pay attention not only to what you throw, or how you throw, but as importantly, what you think when you approach the oche, and how you can make friends with nerves.

I can’t go in to detail on what it was we learned that night, it wouldn’t be fair on the members of the Centre.

What I can say, is this:

I can guarantee The Darts Performance Centre will provide you with the tools, both physical and mental needed to bring your darts to the next level. It’s as simple as that.

Professionals in this sport continue to flock to the Sports Psychologist, recognising the need to focus on this part of a self-paced game. Whilst improvement can’t happen overnight, the opportunity to have one up on the majority of your opponents just by becoming a member, and taking advantage of the many pages of advice, tips, hints, structured practice sessions, high quality equipment, and ground breaking research is too good to turn down.

We know it takes time, patience and dedication to be a good darts player. But with the time you have, using it wisely is vitally important.

“I want to bring my practice board to game play situations.’ This has to be one of the most common frustrations felt by darts players. Following the event on Friday, I now know one of the biggest barriers to doing this, and some simple tips to change!

On a personal note, it was fantastic to meet up with Dave (@doubletopdave) and Del (@Del_Jenkins) who are long standing DPC members. And of course, a huge thanks to Paul (@DartsCentre) and Chris (@dartsflightcent) for organising such a quality event.

It’s nearly Christmas. What better way to get yourself a little treat than a 12 month membership with the DPC. It will be worth it. You can thank me later!

(PG-Membership includes an invite to our annual Members Event!)
